Tea Picking, Moganshan

I've been shooting tea picking season at Mount Mogan, a part of a national park about 200 KM southeast of Shanghai. The tea plantations that cling to the sides of the mountains are dotted with women in bright colors and wide brimmed straw hats, that come mostly from other provinces to pick the tea leaves by hand.

These two women took the bus from An Hui province to spend 20 days picking tea at about 100 RMB per day (15 USD). The rest of the year they work as laborers in other areas or at home, harvesting whatever is in season.
